LCD projector probs

So i have this LCD projector a BENQ PB2140. has odd problems.
sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
When i turn it on it searches for the input display.but after like some 20-25 sec it shuts itself down.
even sometimes it doesn't even have time to complete the search for input it's already shutting itself down. It's pretty annoying.
This has happen all the time be it with a laptop or desktop, same problem.

Do you guys suspect something wrong with the Bulb ?

well this morning i removed the standard monitor cable i was using and used an s-video cable.
It worked flawlessly.

But why is it not working when connected to a normal monitor cable ?

Have you tried a different monitor cable? It's possible that either your monitor cable or the monitor port itself (on the projector) is bad and therefore not sending a signal for the projector to pick up.

i take your word for it DCIScouts but now i have another problem. some vertical white line appears . see picture (sorry but the picture is big)

Yup, that would probably be caused by a bad interface port on your projector, try using some of the RCA or other video ports on the projector. If it's not under warranty then you should be able to pick a little converter box from Radio Shack to go from the analog monitor port to RCA or S-Video (most LCD projectors have them on there...)

Vista Problem

Hi, I have the exact same projector and I have a little problem with Vista...Apparently Vista doesn't send any "signal" to it at all. It detects it when I connect the cable but doesn't do anything, but when I boot into XP on the same laptop, it works just fine! It works flawlessly with everything else..It's just not working with Vista..I'd appreciate any help!

Thank You!

Edit: After another quest on Google, I've finally found the solution, its the ATI drivers, apparently its impossible to update on some laptops due to OEM regulations.. (the latest version is 7 something which I was unable to install) because it simply refused to do so but this tool did it for me! http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool/
The link that I found it through was http://www.macwindows.com/bootcampbeta.html#043007d

If this helps the case of the original poster, I'll be glad that I was of some help.

Regards.
