LCD, Vid Card, or Cable?

Good morning everyone,

I have a Pavilion zt3300 with a 15.4 WXGA that recently has failed. Backlight still comes on. If external monitor is attached, it works fine. Quite often when the unit is first powered up, a distorted HP splash screen shows up for half a second, then disappears.

I imagine the vid card is still good, and I'm hoping it's just the cable. Any advice or ideas on this one?

It's not all that uncommon to have the LCD's on laptop's give out. If it works just fine with an external screen, it's most certainlly the LCD. However, I'm not sure if you could just change the cable or not...

Your best bet would probably be to find a used one on ebay. Maybe you could find a dead one that you could part out...and just hope the screen/cables are in better condition that yours.
