Hi, I'm almost sure about this but I just want to check in case I am worng.

LCD's size is the real viewable screen size, opposed to CRTs, which viewable size is alway 1 inch smaller.
In case I didn't explain well, for example, a 19' LCD's monitor viewable size is in fact 19', while a 19' CRT's screen viewable size is 18'.

p.s. Sorry if it isn¡t clear, but it's 2 a.m. here and I'm falling asleep. :P

Thanks,

Fedcer

Yup, pretty much. LCD's always advertise ACTUAL VIEWABLE size, while CRT's kind of sugar coat their sizes.

wat do they measure that makes it 1" bigger than the actual viewable size?

The sides around the screen, usually it's plastic. It's pretty lame...my 17" CRT is really only like 15-16".
