Learning about Oracle

Not sure if this is a thread to start, but i am having trouble finding information.

So the company i work for is changing it's computer systems to a program called "oracle". I tried looking at their website to learn more about the software and get a predetermination of what it's like. I can't really find anything.

I was just curious if anyone at their place of work uses Oracle and get their opinions on it.

Thanks a million :)

I find it hard to believe that you've never heard of Oracle and that you say you can't find any information about it's software.

Oracle has many software products, which product is your company going to install? It's main software product is Oracle database (current version 11g). Here is their main website: http://www.oracle.com/index.html

Oracle has documentation about their various products on that website and also offers training. In addition, there are many 3rd party companies that offer training and if you check any technical bookstore you'll find lots of books detailing Oracle software.

Oracle is in charge of the java programming language.
They also maintain a Linux as well as an Solaris based operating system.

Hard to believe as it is, I have never used nor heard of Oracle. The website you have provided is the same in which i am browsing upon. I am not completely positive on the exact match of product that we are integrating, but i assume it would be http://www.oracle.com/us/industries/oil-and-gas/018770.htm of some sort. What i am looking for is an in depth look to see how user friendly this product is.

From what i gather, the information i have is that we are to be switching to an Oracle program that integrates all manufacturing offices together. Meaning HSE, Warehousing, Manufacturing engineering, Financial, ect. From the link provided it gives me an interactive map that you can select different segments. On each segment i select, it only gives me a description of that segment.

What i am looking for is pictures, videos anything that can give me inside look of this program. Or at least any incite of user friendly and navigation (people that use or have used this type of program).

Looks to be an Oracle database set up with various vertical applications based on it that are specifically designed for the Oil & Gas Industry.

It looks to be a complex "solution" with many different components that are integrated into the whole and not an all-in-one program that someone could point you to so that you could see how user friendly it is. You would need to know which specific products your company is installing, then look into each of those.
