Leaving a Computer On for a Month

I want to leave my personal desktop computer on for a month, continuously, so that I can remotely access it from elsewhere. (can't leave it in sleep mode, or it won't work). Will this have any harmful effects on the computer?

Actually i've used a program called logmein for remote access and it can wake a computer from sleep. I've done it to my grandfather's computer. Maybe give that a shot, you can google them.

To answer your question though, generally no, it doesn't hurt to leave a computer on as long as it's getting cooled they can run and run and run. Only downside is it will eat up a lot of your electricity.

Nope, as some people leave there machines on 24/7. Just make sure you enable the screen saver or have the monitor turn off after so long.

I leave most of my desktops on 24/7, My one desktop has been on all most 3 years now and never a problem, Only time It was off was when we lost power and for me to clean the dust out of it... As long as you reboot it once in a while and make sure there is no dust and it stays cool there is no problem leaving it on all the time.

if its running xp pro/win7 home premium or equivalent, you can access it using another machine running xp pro or eqivalent by using Remote Desktop Connection, and just having the router configured correctly to allow outside connections to connect to the machine. really all it requires is some configurations and the IP of the machine

No. I haven't turned my office computer off maybe in 3 months and I haven't noticed any damaging effects at all except that it slows a bit and the IT guy said I need to reboot it once in a while for the updates and stuff. What I do now though, it turn it off during weekends due to environmental concerns.
