Legit/Legal Windows 8.1 Nfr Clean Install?

No it's not eseentially the same topic.

This topic pertains to whether or not the nfr copy of windows 8 I linked to is an upgrade version or one that can be burned to a disk and used for a clean install.

The other topic was whether or not I could legally download an iso of windows xp or 7 and activate them with a seperately purchased key.

Either way I bought windows xp after some conflicting info from my other thread so i'm not likely to be downloading Windows 8 at this time.
 
You didn't mention anything regarding whether it can be burned to a disk for clean install or not. An upgrade version simply requires an iso variation, or a windows 7 (links provided earlier) install without a key and then use your upgrade. Many many workarounds, all of which make no difference.

Your other post is about what OS you can get being Win XP, 7 or other.

Either way, you're talking about the OS you want to potentially buy, THIS IS THE SAME TOPIC!

You ended up getting XP and wasting everyone's time by posting and then not really requiring or waiting for an answer. Well done.

At the end of the day you bought an OS that is about to be completely and utterly dropped from MS, is outdated, slower and not supported.

The digital river links are legit, all you needed to do was buy a key.

Sheesh.

I'm not sure what the words "make use of this without a previous OS" and "clean install" mean to you but they should logically point towards the fact that i wasn't planning to do a workaround upgrade install.

The other thread pointed me towards "going by the book" and getting legitimate installation media with a coa. I considered all opinions offered in the other thread and I appreciate everyone taking the time to help me out.
Windows xp is suitable for what I currently need it for, which is gaming without all the work involved in getting games running in Wine for Linux.

Lastly I don't see moderator written next to your name and your attitude is apalling, you might waste less of your time if you stop worrying about how others are using the forum ;)

Please read Rule 4 in the rules of this forum regarding multiple posting on the same topic.

When you have guys who are busy considering and replying to your other post, when you have this post and a decision relating to XP already made, that is the point of the rule.

Secondly please note that many games wont play on XP as it doesn't support the newest (or even last version) of Direct X.

Thirdly the workaround for installing a fresh Windows installation using the upgrade media/key is very common, and completely well regarded. It saves people a lot of money, and as you can install Windows 7 without a key, it allows you to upgrade from one version of Windows 7 to another within the installation, providing a much better result than a normal upgrade. completely legit and completely a better outcome for cheaper. This is because the ISO downloads are all the same, for a particular version and are completely key agnostic provided you have a key for the ISO version in question. So anyone with a professional Win 7 key for example can download any legit Win 7 Pro ISO and use it.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, I hope it works out for you.

I didn't post 2 threads just to be a troll. I genuinely thought this would be off topic in the original thread.
I hadn't decided on Windows Xp when I posted this thread.

The problem I saw with the download and key route is the lack of a Certificate of Authenticity.
I'm not sure if they are neccesary for the latest operating systems like Windows 7 and 8 so I didn't want to take any chances.

Maybe someday I'll decipher Microsofts license policies and figure out for myself what is legit and what isn't, but for now it just wasn't worth the trouble.
