Does anybody here have one? I'm waiting for a new T60p to come in. These are the specs I'm getting.. T2500 2.0ghz core duo. 4gb ram. 100gb 7200rpm HDD. firegl v5200. What do you all use the laptop for and how does it perform in the latest graphic intense game applications? I know this machine is not for gaming, but I am curious to know how it performs as far as that goes.

4GB's useless, most people that are extreme gamers, i dont think they even have 4GB's, most gamers have 2GB's.

That graphics card limits you considerably, it's not meant for gaming. It's a 3D rendering card, meant for workstation computers.

I tried stating above I know this machine is not for gaming, I wouldn't have purchased this setup for it. Like I said, its not for gaming and I didn't buy the 4gb of ram because I thought it would help there (I'll be running dual operating systems, and possibly a third vista OS) Vista will eat ram quite easily.. My second OS aside from XP Pro will be win2k3 and be used primarily as a server base for some of the work I do. I was simply wondering what the capabilities of this machine was as far as current gaming applications go. I was also curious as to what everyone else uses this machine for (if they actually own one). Gaming is not my primary use for this machine, its simply a leisure activity on the side that I was curious about.

Well, I can only say what others have said. It's not a strong gaming chip, it's meant for 3D rendering. I'm sure it can handle light gaming, and probably the newest games on low/medium settings...but that's at best. For "leisure gaming" as you call it, I think it should be fine. That is what I use my laptop for as well, but I don't play the latest games. Older games it plays without a hiccup, newer ones I have to lower the details/resolution. Any my laptop is not as powerful as yours either, although the graphics card is more adapted for gaming.

How would you compare the FireGL v5200 256mb mobility to an X1400 128mb as far as gaming capabilities go and what type of graphics card do you have?
