Lethally outdated hardware

Still haven't heard your opinions on the board :S, we've all agreed that I need a new Board/CPU/RAM combination, but would be lovely I if I got some specific recommendations ;P

Look at an AMD FX-6300 or FX-8320 CPU and a Ggiabyte GA-970A-UD3 or GA-990FXA-UD3 board.

RAM - you want 8GB ideally (2x4GB sticks) and 1600MHz or faster (1866MHz is getting cheaper). I like G.Skill RipJaws-X RAM, but Corsair, Crucial and Kingston also make good memory.

Try and spend as much on the GPU as possible.

A budget for the whole thing would be great to know. Sorry if you've already posted it.

He said $1,000 I believe. Which should be enough for a great gaming machine. Dont see why he cant go all out with it really.

Ah right 1000 bucks will get you the FX-8320 and the 990FXA board and he should still have cash to spare for a good graphics card. Look at the Radeon R9 270X or something perhaps. :)

Scratch the whole end budget problem, I got a bunch of money to build this PC on hard months of work, with all my college expenses paid thanks to my parents, and a good plan for a PC, I gonna focused around the r9 290x, with Noctua NF-F12 fans. I got the Maximus IV Formula for a great price of 276.95$ (I live in Estonia I mind you, so its amazing any ROG tech even exists here) Ram is Corsair Vengeance dual channel 32gb ,got a second kit for free at the shop due to my huge spending spree and the fact that nobody buys this kind of tech there, just preset computers, which means I get a Ramdisk of 32gb XD, belive my luck?, for the PSU I found the same Antec EarthWatts EA-650 GREEN 650W ATX12V v2.3 on Amazon, and luckily got free shipping on Christmas. For the PSU, I got it from another tech store near me, which had a discount, getting me the Corsair RM Series 650 Watt ATX/EPS 80PLUS Gold-Certified Power Supply, because its 650 Watt, just like the Antec that G80FTW recommended, and it was Intel 4th generation CPU ready, at which point I should tell you that I was almost up with my money at that point, and my parents paid for the Intel Core i7 4770k as a Christmas present. After that I got my Christmas money from relatives and went ahead and got the Cooler Master CM Storm Scout II case, simply cause after inspecting a bunch of cases I liked it for the appearance and good cable management the most, and it had a Christmas discount. I still had some money left at that point so I did some calculations and got a GPU cooling block and the Corsair H100i (the cooling turned out perfect by the way :D) plus a Samsung EVO 250gb SSD (how the hell was it that this was the only SSD brand in 2 stores in a row?) and a 1T ,I was running our of resources by then, and thought the 1T was enough, cause I still needed a freaking OS, so after that I got a Windows 8.1 Pro and still had a whole 10 DOLLARS (in euros anyways XD) to spend on ice cream. After that went home, piled all the stuff into my basement (which is like a lounge area, except completely empty aside from a table, a boxing bag and some chairs), de-statified myself and worked for 5 hours with a few 10min breaks. After looked at my new PC, all maching colors, and a window on the side and everything, and shed many mantears at the beauty before me. Shure I had trouble with the Tubing, and installing the ports right (indicate the positive and negative for ****s sake, reading a manual is tiresome XD) but was all of it worth it? after all I did did something arrive dead? After the Christmas miracle that took 1000$ off the cost of this thing would it work? I carried out the traditional Christmas rituals (sacrificing infants, eating old toenails, you know, standard stuff) Then I took the magnificent beast upstairs and hooked it up, waited for it to post with my whole family, and after I saw that blue flash followed by the Maximus start up I shit myself, and we all cried of happiness (well only me, they were creeped out about how exited I was about this PC, still BEST CHRISTMAS EVER).After the great shopping spree that lasted the whole of 23rd, and the great building in the morning of the 24th came the great setup of the 25th. So took basicly the whoole night until 11 am, Dec 25 when I had gotten all the basic functionality down and, it was time to put on my games and stuff onto the system. But before that I went ahead and got Chrome, checked my discussion and wrote this :D. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I didn't expect that I would have gotten THIS MUCH MONEY, but still you guys laid down some computer building thinking ahead 101 on me, that made me make a much better PC than I would have, so I thank all of you. The experience that I've had with this PC so far has been a bit difficult, but also amazing. I cant wait to put on my games and check out my new and improved unreal speed :D, but before that I'm gonna wait for your questions (benchmarks, temp. performance and so on) and might as well ask you guys how I should overclock (didn't want to break anything 0.o so I set the temp to 60 my r9 290x, but with the GPU cooling block installed and stuff, how should I proceed?) as well as what I should put on the leftover 9.56gb of Ramdisk (By the way, If you don't have your OS on a ramdisk, all I can say is HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!! ITS LIKE GOING FROM CRAWLING LIKE A BABY ON THE CARPET TO FLYING AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT IN SPACE!!!!) anyways tell me If I should save the space or use it. As for now I installed most of my basic programs on the SSD, but jusus vhristamus is this baby fast as balls, takes like 0.9 sec to get from standby to desktop, and the speed at which everything moves is even too fast for my 144Hz. And as far as the R9 290x has been treating my 1080p so far, as in not gaming, Mmmmmmmmh, iz zoo guud. Anyways im gonna set overclocks to stock start treating this machine with some benchmarks, I wanna see what score I get compared to like the 5000 or 1500 maybe that I got in 3dmark11 on my old machine, love you all, cya.

I wanna thank all my friends and relatives for helping me out with this build :D, ask me for anything, even pictures If you want.

Oh yeah I got some money from my farther relatives this morning, and combined with the amount I got from my grandparents on my fathers side that leaves me with like 400$. Saw this gaming sound card while I was at the tech stores, checked it out on the interwebz, its called the Xonar Phoebus, by ROG. The Christmas discount is off, but it still costs only 264.57$ (again translated from euros), should I get it or get something else? By the way, for thermal paste i used "Indigo Xtreme", cost me 33$ and I was knew the difference between more expensive thermal pastes is only like 0.1 degrees, and it was the cost pretty much the same as the other more expensive thermal pastes, there were only like 3 of those so I just picked one, the others were like 13.99 or 7.99.
