Well I'll get it then :). But is it a huge difference?

Your build is pretty good, I have to be honest.

But, the LGA 775 is a dead socket. No more new CPU's will be released for it.

You want a dead socket or a new socket?

The board you chose only runs Dual Channel DDR2 Memory.
The board I chose runs Triple Channel DDR3 Memory.

The RAM you chose is DDR2 800, which is turdville compared to DDR3 1600

I was faced with the same dilemma, and I chose i7, and I couldn't be happier. :good:

Have never used AMD in the past. I'll stick with Intel for now and maybe in the future i'll give AMD a try :).
Yeah, right now amd is right on par with the core 2 duo's/core 2 quads but much more cpu for the price, while they arent quite up with the core i7's yet;)

Thanks! The reason that I didn't go with i7 is because it's too much power consuming, which I am asuming will get hot and overheat alot. The Core 2 Quad is less power consuming (95W) and pretty good too. Your toughts?

why do you have an x58 MB with C2Q ;0 you would need LGA775 MB for the processor not 1366 ;)

I also recommend Core i7 it won't overheat unless you're overclocking with stock heat sink

You're picking a processor that needs a LGA775 Socket and you picked a motherboard that has a LGA1366 Socket which is for core i7 not C2Q

and the i7 isn't to power consuming

The 2 best options to pick would be the Phenom II or Core i7 route

i would how ever ditch the card and upgrade to the 4870s which are now under 160 new.

And the sound cards now a days are really not needed since motherboards now have 24bit 8.1 built in the motherboards.

Power consumption doesnt mean much.... You shouldnt go with a core 2 quad, it is obsolete and end of life. Only a blithering idiot would invest in dead technology. Core i7 and Phenom II are pretty much the only realistic platforms to spent money on.
