Let's say I try build my computer...

Power consumption doesnt mean much.... You shouldnt go with a core 2 quad, it is obsolete and end of life. Only a blithering idiot would invest in dead technology. Core i7 and Phenom II are pretty much the only realistic platforms to spent money on.

Agreed. I still would get used core 2 quad but I would never build a new system using core 2 quad.

You all ready have the Triple channel DDR3 memory and LGA1366 MB(which aren't compatible with C2Q) just get the i7 and bam you're set.

I wouldnt go with the recertified one in your list, get at least a GTX260 Core 216, or a GTX275. You may want to look at the ati camp while your at it, as the HD4890 is quite a bit cheaper than the GTX275, but faster than it in most places, and equal in others;)

It's just that everyone says that Nvidia is for gaming and ATI is more for video editing and stuff. I'll think about it though. Also, I heard that if you want good performance you want Intel/Nvidia or AMD/ATI.

yes you want but don't need :D
Nvidia if you really don't want to spend a lot GTS 250 or if you want to spend more GTX260/275
ATI cheaper HD4850 or the more expensive(bet better) 4870/90

Yep im seriously excited about this I am upgrading from a Intel Pentium 4 2GHz, 1 Gig of RAM, Geforce 5500 FX and 60 HDD. :P

Might go with the GTX 275...

You will not regret building an i7 system.

If you ever intend on running more than one graphics
card, and you're partial to nVidia, you may want to
consider the Foxconn Renaissance, as the Flaming
Blade GTI only supports multiple ATI cards.

The Foxconn Renaissance supports multiple ATI
and multiple nVidia cards.

Foxconn Renaissance ($199.99)

If you don't ever plan on it, then never mind. :good:
