Though neither of those seem to support that processor. Then again, who would waste their money on a "Core2 Extreme"? Even wen it was new it was a waste.
If you're going to be using a QX9770 you want a decent board. Look into the likes of the EVGA 780i or 790i boards or any 780i or 790i board. Think Intel had a chipset for it too but I can't remember what it is - X48?
Doesn't really come as a surprise that most mATX boards don't work with a 9770, that was an enthusiast processor and enthusiasts don't tend to use mATX.
Even back in the day something like a Q9300 or a Q9450 would have been all you needed.
@ Spirit: Re the EVGA 790i, that one is a "Maybe". The list of supported processors goes up to the QX9650 which draws up to 130 Watts, as opposed to 135 watts for the QX9770.
If what you've got is working for you now I'd just stick with it, unless you're absolutely desperate to overclock.
Does it need to be mATX because of your case? EVGA weren't the only brand to make 790i boards, XFX did too. If not, you could always have a look at some of the X48 boards.
