I got a Lexmark all-in-one for Christmas that I really like. My only question is that it shows up as a "Removable Disk" in My Computer. why would it do that? and should I just leave it alone?
 
It is also printing streaks, but I think it might be the ink they sent me, maybe I'll buy a new ink cartridge and see how it works.
 
Yes it does have a memory card reader...4 of them actually...

separate note, about the streaks. I've cleaned the cartriges 3 times and they still have lines. Could it just be the cartridges that were sent with the printer? Should I just get new ones and give em a try?
 
The removable disks are actually the card reader appearing. If you stick a memory card into your printer, you can read it from your computer.

What kind of streaks are these? Are they extra lines on top of the paper? Or a blurring of the actual characters?
 
Since I just got it, I've only printed one picture, but I get the lines on the picture, the alignment test page, and the clean cartridges page. The lines were real bad at first, but I ran the "clean cartridges" test and they got much better. Now when I print test pages, the lines are still there and the ink is not very dark. The black is gray and the blue is very light. The lines aren't blurring, just thin white lines the whole way across the page. I'm thinking it has to be the cartridges. I think my best be is to go to wal-mart and buy some new ones and see how it goes, unless there is something else to try?
 
the onlythings it offers is the alignment test and clean test..which I've done numerous times for both which makes me think it has to be the cartridge.
 
Well I don't think it is anything else, so yes, I would say replace them.

Or call Lexmark first and see if you can get them to send you some free replacement ones.
 
a bit of a long shot, but have you tried turning it off for a minute and turning it back on again? it might re align itsself by making all that stupid noise inkjets do when you turn them on
 
Try calibrating the printer in the settings. Also the cartridges that are free with printers are often rubish. Trying a new decent one is probably the best bet if the calbration does not give a result.
