LG you suck!!

i built a new pc back in april and the dvd drives are cracking my discs.

Battlefield 2 is cracked, as is the expansion pack 'Special Forces'. and GTA San andreas. its getting stupid, bf2 is totally unreadable, but the other two are ok they just have little cracks across the center. but i dont wanna play them juts in case they get any worse.

has any one had any problems like this with an LG DVD or DVDRW drives?

also, im not sure if its Power DVD or the cd drives but when im watching movies, they stop playing about half way through. its only just started happening but is already annoying.

anyone have any info on whats going on?
 
Sure you havent got a dodgy drive?? Ive got an LG DVD-RW drive and its absolutely perfect, i couldnt find a fault with it even if i tried, its wonderful. Also, my past experiences with LG have been easy with no probs at all... They're one of my favorite brands

LGs are good drives, I have used alot more liteons but the LGs I have installed all worked fine, They have a good price point on them too!
 
i thought it was just the DVD drive so i thought i would just use the DVDRW drive until i figure out whats wrong with it, but it turned out to be both. ive had LG in the past but never let me down until now. i cant have two faulty drives, could it be something to do with its configuration, if there is one? if there is a way to reduce the speed, i would put it a bit lower which may help prevent the cracking.

You sure you have the jumpers right, if there on the same IDE the burner likes to be master and the rom as slave! Plus check in your device manager and make sure there running in UDMA mode
 
yep, the DVDRW drive is master and the rom is slave. but where abouts is the UDMA setting in the device manager?
 
There may be a fault in the clamping ass'y. Send an E-Mail to lg and see if they will replace it, I am sure they will.
 
Sounds like a warranty claim to me! You've got the evidence in your hands, the cracked discs. LG wouldn't replace those (limited liability clause), but the drive? They should.

just another bad set of drives you just got unlucky when you pick a bad one. i have 2 samsung drives with problems too and its new. and my LG is ok no problems

i like your way of thinking lol

yeah i will probably contact them and get replacements but they may think im lying by saying they are both cracking discs because for all they know it could be just one drive. but then again i could juts buy new ones, they're not really much compared to other things in a pc.
