lifespan of a mobo?

Have no idea. I,ve had boards DOA, burn out days later, some last years. Still have old socket 5 boards that still work fine. I guess the boards components have a so called life span if it was run 24/7. But you could by two board that are the same, one last a few years and the other one never goes out and ends up on a wall in a antique store.

Yeah, there is no way to say what a mobo's lifespan would be...

It's like buying a car--you never know how long it will run for, or what may break down..

So many variables

what would the average lifespan of a motherboard be?

would 5000 hours be considered alot or little?

Even if you could judge a mobos lifespan...

5000 hours would be on low end, IMO..

lets say u use it 8 hours a day--6 days a week..

it wouldn't even last 2 years,,

I have had a ton of DOA....I seem to have broke a TG record with DOA boards in a row.

The only board I have had had though that worked after the box lasted around 6 years a total of 30,000+ hours or so.
Every other board I end up selling within a year or so it never got the full abuse.

Hard to say, but I think most people will never see their mobos die because they will upgrade far sooner than that (unless it comes to you DOA or something).

I wouldn't expect it to die any time soon, mechanical devices such as hard drives, optical drives, fans, etc fail long before the rest of the devices do. The failure of the motherboard could very well be due to a motherboard fan failing.

Mobo's are like girlfriends, you never know how long they are going to last. So overclock and enjoy them while you can.
