Light Peak and USB 3.0

I understand that Light Peak is supposed to be over twice as fast as USB 3.0 and I see USB 3.0 hard drives hitting the market. I've read that Intel is going forward with Light Peak in the first half of next year (while holding back on USB 3.0 computers).

Will Intel be going ahead with Light Peak for desktop computers by 2012? What are the pros and cons of Light Peak and USB 3.0? Would Light Peak be priced more than USB 3.0?

Thank you for your help.

Never heard of Light Peak, so that tells me I need to research about that now.

They finally came out with USB 3.0 external HDDs now?

The only con I see with USB 3.0 ATM, is that the cases with front USB 3.0 requires you to plug the cable in one free USB 3.0 port, and there's no more than two as far as I've seen.

Update

I heard recently that Light Peak will be released to run on copper wiring and not the fiber optics that would enable it to achieve its full potential. My question is when does Intel plan to release Light Peak that'll run on fiber optics?

I have a 500gb USB 3.0 drive and it transfers at around 60 MB/s. I am completely satisfied with it. It cost only $79 and works great.
