I have cox cable wireless interenet, and before I got it whan I was using netzero, I was able to use limewire! Ever since I updated to the wireless cble internet I am not able to connect to the server with limewire or any other file sharing programs, I have tried several, and the same problem! Any advice?

Talking about filesharing programs of this nature is against the forum rules please go read them.... Also cox and comcast are beginning to block the ports and not allowing you to use them either to cover their own asses as they ar liable now as well.

File sharing and P2P programs arent illegal, it's what some people do with them that is, since you can download legit files and programs via P2P programs, such as demos and trials.

My guess is that your modem/router has to have port forwarding setup.

in my opinion limewire isn't good either (not trying to be rude or anything of the sort) you should try ARES its been doing me some good for the last 3 years, if you like the limewire GUI then you should try frostwire

Limewire works fine on the wireless connection I use.

Same here. In terms of Limewire/illegal, it's not necessarily illegal. Depends on what you're doing. You can share legimate files too. I know the majority is probably copyrighted music and movies, and post #7 supports that thought, but still it's not always illegal.

Your ISP may be blocking the ports used by Limewire and other P2P programs. i know TalkTalk broadband here in the UK blocks P2P ports...

sometimes you have to manually enable uPNP on wireless routers. Better just to go to the library and use their computers. Install limewire onto a flash drive and you're good to go.
