Limewire???

Anyone had any experience with it? Just wondering if it slows the comuter down or causes any other problems? Thanks.
 
extremely bad, do not use it. I've had two computers crash from it. If you need it for some legal purpose (yeah right) get what you need and trash it. People commonly are fooled by it, they think they know how to use it and it doesn't affect them, but take my word for it: If you have it connected for long periods of time, viruses will get to you.
 
Well if i'm honest, its a pile of dog s**t!
It's:
- Illegal!
- Gives you numerous viruses!
- Slows down internet due to download/upload!

DON'T GET IT!
 
this has come up a few times, the actual P2P software is not illegal, it can be used for perfectly legitimate reasons too

its the copyright material that some people transfer with it that is illegal
 
my housemate used limewire last year on his laptop and got rid of it two days later when the virus scan caught about 350 viruses. God knows what he was downloading... :rolleyes:
 
Um.....I don't know what you people are doing do get so many problems. Just make sure to not download a virus. I'm using limewire PRO, and regular limewire works just fine also. Just run a virus check after downloading something if you're not sure what to do. Did any of you look at the actual file sizes?

Ditto thats what i do, Im also useing Limewire Pro and have been for years, Never had any mojor problems.. I can only recall having 1 virus off it and it was a trojen. Quick scan and it was gone,That was Years ago tho....

the way viruses get on your system is from downloading dodgey stuff. you have to know what your after before you download it. now to stop stuff getting onto your system you need to block all outgoing connections apart from searches, which stops people looking at your files. you need to change shared files to 0, just go through all the settings and anything that says anything about sharing, change it so it doesnt

you can download limewire pro using normal limewire :D
gotta love the brains behind the genius who thought of that :D

I get what your saying, but i didn't say it was illegal.:D
 
I use Limewire PRO and have never had a single problem in all the years I've used it, just make sure you look at the file size of what you're downloading and make sure its roughly about what it should be (estimate). And one more thing whenever you download anything off a P2P network always virus/spyware scan it.
