Link computers

I've got two computers and I want to link them with each other, so I can play games aigainst someone else etcetera... can anyone give me some information about how to do that and what i need to do it.... thanks,

You'll need 2 network cards (if your motherboard doesnt have any), and a cross-over cable. Just hook the cables up to each of the computers, and you may need to set a gateway, but you can deal with that once you try it out first.
