link to computers

i wana link my laptop (which has wireless internet) to my desktop with dosent have internet.

is it possible 2 connect the 2 so they both have internet?? if so what do i have 2 do? i have a ethenet cord will that do the trick??

How far is the desktop from the router? Put a wireless card in the desktop if its too far from the router for a cable to get hooked up to it. It would be better to have the desktop have its own connection to the net instead of going through your laptop.
 
well the router is downstairs and is wireless

i only have my laptop with a connection upstairs atm

is there a way 2 connect the 2 and both have a connection to the net though
i will get a wireless usb or a wirless card soon
 
You will need to use a crossover cable between the 2 computers and setup internet connection sharing. What operating system is on each system?
 
You have a best buy around you? or any other computer store besides walmart, they won't have it. It's an ethernet cable but just the 2 ends are wired differently.
