Linking my Laptop to my home pc??

How do i link my new laptop to my home computer, so i can transfer files acrooss to my laptop??

If you're going to be using both computers for the internet, you mind as well get a router and network them.

OR one could use a crossover cable and connect one of each end to the NIC port on each.
