Linksys vs Netgear routers

Linksys hands down.

Uh, I'm going to say neither. Just because Linksys produced one really good router, doesn't make Linksys "the best", or "better". "Linksys hands down" is a terrible suggestion.
Much better advice, and advice you should have been given from the beginning, is comparison shopping. There is no brand better than the other. There are, however, smart ways to purchase a router, as in price comparisons; which brand, Linksys or Netgear, for example, will give you more bang for your buck. Compare two of their routers in the price range you're looking for, and make an educated decision on which router from both brands has the most features, range, unique abilities, etc.
Linksys has its fair share of junk routers. Every brand does. I'm not sure why you would limit your search for a router to Linksys or Netgear. D-Link, Belkin, Buffalo, Trendnet, etc, all have viable and competitively priced routers.
