The truth is that Linux is one of the biggest threats to human creativity worldwide Some of you will find that statement remarkable, but it is true. As Microsoft's CEO Steve Ballmer has said, "Linux is cancer." Ken Brown of the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution has said that: "Linux is a leprosy; and is having a deleterious effect on the U.S. IT

i dont understand how something free can be so evil.

lol... if it even states some guy from windows or mac... it is bogus... mac and windows HATE linux just because linux is so much better. And they just dont understand. M$ pshhhh.

well well, I do understand, it's just that MS is loosing out way to much customers, especially now with windows vista out with so much flaws, people find a free alternative (free of viruses too).
I was one amongst the lot which moved to linux around 2006 but i came back to windows for one simple reason.
the work i do cannot be carried out by linux.
But seeing (in my country), linux gets a massive share amongst home users, not IT or Work people.
Have to say Linux is not evil it's just a good OS.

While this thread belongs more in the off topic section Linux is a threat to a monopoly. Windows and Apple/Mac have been rhe two leaders with MS the largest for too long. The growing popularity of Linux threatens the MS giant! "we can't have that now can we!"

sure we can. lf windows were to actually put some good stuff in there os, like much more opensource it would be better but the ability to have a free os that is stable (besides wireless ) and has web server, sql, php, samba etc all installed is a huge benefit that nether mac or windows have yet incorporated into there os.

well :D............ i would........... but i never tried the os :D:D:D:D:D:D:D all that was pure guess :D... fine... more aimed at windows then mac

edit: ^^^^ that would be the from the earth to the sun... there are way to many comands

Well you don't have to add all the commands, just some of the basic ones.
I'm challenging someone to do it. (If Ian allows of course).

hmm.. you say you've never used the OS, and yet, look what you wrote in THIS thread

sometimes you need to use your minds right, Brian could easily google all of the commands and take away all the hard one and put the easy ones, so you would say he did good,so it's not even worth it.
so drop the idea

That thread mentioned QParted which is a drive partitioning tool for Linux only. Only a few live for cd releases of GParted are able to be used for creation, deletion, moving, resizing, copying even MS and other types of partitions besides VFat. But if you look around you can easily find tutorials on the differnent distros to review.

Why would I want to drop the idea on someone making a 101 on linux? I think alot of people would want it to try linux but they got no idea where to start and how to use it. It wouldn't harm anyone if we did have a 101 on linux.

you know why i said drop ? cause then you will need one for Mac, so don't say we don't need 101's for mac.
i remember the thread a while back kornowski asked for a seperate section for Graphics or so, he didn't get it, so basically it's a bit the same see :)

:confused: what? i was saying i never used mac os. hows does partitioning come in to this? but yeah never used mac os... yet...

One thing that tells me is that you are not familiar with the live releases of GParted for cd. Why do you think some are labeled "platform independent"? hhmm...

The two releases seen in the capture can easily be used to create NTFS as well as FAt16/32 partitions as well as for other OSs along with Linux's VFat type. The live for cd version is 35mb in size and runs from the cd-r you boot from not in Windows, Linux, or any other while it is running.

If it messes up your drive you either downloaded the wrong release or simply weren't familiar with it. After partitioning a drive you still use the XP/Vista installer or now a separate option found on the Vista installation disk for formatting. For Vista and XP alike I used GParted here without one issue. It would be a shame for the free tool to get banned by MS labeling it as ...what?! :mad:GGrrrr...!
