Linux OS

Well, I'm trying to learn a lot about Linux, and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was some sort of special Linux software that you can open as a program or with a CD (boot or normal). I don't want to chose the OS at startup, but I want to be able to open Linux and use it normally. The things I really need are:

Open/Boot Linux without chosing the OS at startup

Save and write to normal hard drive

Free Software to do this.

I currently have Knoppix, but it is a pain to start.

Also, I don't care I'll need to use a CD to boot Linux.

It needs to work with Windows

Winlinux can be installed within windows just like any other progran. i did'nt realy like it very much but it may be usefull to someone new to linux and do not want to mess up their HD and MBR. Link > http://www.winlinux.net/

you can also try SuSE live CD.

i did some checking and it seems that NTFS is not supported, in fact most Linux distros do not support writing to NTFS without the use of special software. Microsoft does not like Linux very much and guards the secrets to the NTFS file system.

I guess your only alternative is to use live CDs. If you have a spare HD there may be a way to install Linux without touching our current partition.

i wonder if it won't do anything to my computer if i try to use it. maby it will help to use the program compatablity wizard
