Linux Partition over XP Files

I had very important files on my external HDD that I need to recover. Problem is, I accidentally installed Linux on the HDD and partitioned it using Linux.

So, I've got Windows based files to recover from behind a Linux partitioned hard drive.

Anyone know of a solution to get those files?
Any software that will recognize both, Linux and Windows partitioning/files?
Professional data recovery is too expensive so it's not an option.

try activte undelete....or acronis disk director, which has a partion restore thing... gl..

I recomend just buying data rescue II from prosoft, its a nice application and I have personally used it many times to recovery data.

Hopefully even Data Rescue II will work there since you first have to delete the NTFS primary in order to create the Linux VFat types seen there. The home page for this software is seen at http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue_info.php

when you delete a partition, or anything for that matter the data is not gone until it is over written. I highly doubt all his data is gone. It may however be so trashed from doing what you did that it may be unrecoverable.

I have had great luck with Data Rescue II and I highly recommend it.

After repartitioning and reformatting for Linux you have to expect some lost file integrity to be seen due to changing from NTFS to then seeing the Linux Vfat written to the drive. But the thing noticed on the II version is Mac not MS seen there. Data Rescue PC would be more likely the one to use since that is for MS. http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue_pc_info.php
