Alright, i just installed linux, ubuntu. And im just wondering, do i need a /firewall/anitvirus/antispyware protection like with microsoft? And if so, can you give me al link? Thanks

Are you connected behind a router?? It will act as a firewall
For the most part, little is required with linux, as most of that trash is geared towards windows noobs

I would go ahead and antivirus and antispyware programs just incase if something would happen but I would not be so concerned about scanning to often.

when i download a antivirus, half the extensions arent recognized. Got any ideas?

do you know how to install an application in linux??
what are you downloading and what is the extention?

nope no clue, just double clicked on the icon,Easy Ubuntu 2.4 beta 4, and the extension is .tar-1

Realistically, with Linux, you don't need AV. I've been using it for years and never had any type of infection. If you want anti-virus I suggest clamav (http://www.clamav.net/).

As for your Ubuntu questions your better off in an Ubuntu forum. They are very friendly and can get you going in the right direction (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/)

lol yea figured out that much. I have been using it for about 3 hours so far and i am hooked! I dont think i will ever go back to XP pro, unless for gaming, the ATI drivers for linux are garbage, Pulling 20FPS on battlefield vietnam on medium while i normal get at least 30+
