I just installed Gentoo Linux on my personal computer and I am running into sound quality issues from my soundcard. I use a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz soundcard, running the Crystal/Cirrus SoundFusion processor and the Gnome GUI. I'm rather new to the Linux scene (BTW I did consciously choose Gentoo above other distributions - and I love it so far), but I suspect my soundcard drivers are the problem - sound is coming through the speakers but its distorted and low levels are never reproduced clearly. What can I do to fix/troubleshoot the problem?
