Linux

So I was thinking about installing it just to install it and check it out. I read some of the stuff on the website for it and it seemed a little complicated so I was wondering if anybody could tell me how complicated it is. Also I would like to dual boot it with XP on my laptop and I'm not sure if there are linux drivers for my system specs which are in my signature. Is linux even worth installing?
Thanks.

About linux: It is one of the best and most secure operating systems ever created. But if you want to use it for gaming, there are not many games, just very few for linux platform.
But if you want it, you have to choose a distribution. There are many, one of the best is Ubuntu (GNOME desktop). You can choose Kubuntu (KDE desktop) or Xubuntu (Xfce desktop) if you don't like gnome.

Yes, Linux is a great, very stable, and very secure operating system, and it is definitely worth learning how to use it. As a first distro i would Recommend Ubuntu or openSUSE.
Also, instead of dualbooting, you could run your distro or choice in a virtual machine using Sun's VirtualBox. It's alot easier to do.

Well I'm already dual booting windows xp and vista on my desktop lol. I really have no idea how to use linux and how many diffrent versions there are, and all that. Any help would be appreciated and I would really like to learn how this OS works.
Thanks.

The best way to learn Linux is to try it out and experiment alongside tutorials which for Ubuntu(a great starting place for Linux Virgins) ther're PLENTY available and a very well supported official Ubuntu forum(not sure if I can give link) and yes .. running Linux inside a virtual machine is a very good way to decide if you want to keep it or not without messing about with partitions etc !!

What is a Virtual Machine? It's a Virtual Operating System, That would run from your Windows Operating System, Linux, Mac, Or any other OS that can support OS Emulation.
Although I dislike Microsoft heres a Link to VirtualPC

That is a broken link lol. So I would start up windows and then open linux from there? I would rather just load up linux lol. What all is linux good for?

Well what if I just wanted to run linux that is possible too right? or do I have to have windows? I have to hard drives so I think I will install linux on my other one then I dont need to partition it lol.

Is it possible to triple boot operating systems? Where do I get linux drivers for stuff?

Now is Ubuntu on the main linux website? I no how to partition the hard drive but can you do it when an OS is already installed on the hard drive? Could some one list all the linux versions and tell me which is best and why? Thanks!

Well my parts are kind of old and I dont want to install linux on my laptop. I want to test and see if I even like it. Thanks for the link and all the help guys.

You could try Linux Mint as well. It is based on Ubuntu, and it has a nicer interface. I never used it on real hardware, just on virtual machines where you can't get the most out of it, but it would work nice on real hardware.

I answered all the questions and got 6 results lol. There are alot of diffrent linux huh? So hard to choice one lol. For the most part are they all the same?

Well I installed Ubuntu with absolutely no problems at all, except I could not find drivers for my sound card, other than that everything is perfect. So I am triple booting, Xp, Vista and Ubuntu. lol.
