Linux

Linux isn't a bad choice. It's just different. If you can set it up for her and tell her to only download new software from the software center you will minimize problems.

Yeah. If this person only uses the computer for Facebook and such, you'll probably be fine. She might get confused if she needs to use Office, though, even though Libreoffice is basically just as good.

Well, it is all set up and ready to go for her. Anybody that don't have the no how to take someone with them to buy a computer, even at a thrift shop doesn't seem to know to much to me. It is not a bad beginner's computer tho. But I did inform them in a letter I sent back with my friend to give them, how much Widows 7 Home Premium Retail or OEM would cost. I use Open office myself. Is Libreoffice better than Open office?

Libre Office has more development, honestly I think it has been a few years since open office has had any real big updates. There are more communities that contribute to Libre Office and Libre 4.xx is pretty awesome and might be the next closes thing to Microsoft Office.
