well i found this the other day via stumble upon, but it really doesn't give a linux experience

I would suggest downloading the live versions and burning them on CD/DVD then trying them out to see which one you like the best.

Not Cool, All it does is open firefox and that doesn't even work. :( Oh well, I have Ubuntu on another partition anyway. :D

Yea ubuntu. If you download the iso you can run the OS off a cd and decide wether you want to use it or not. I just set up a virtual machine to run ubuntu inside of windows XP, which is great. You could try that too.
 
If you use BitTorrent you can also download a version of Ubuntu with a lot more stuff that goes onto a DVD. Look on Linuxtracker.org for the Ubuntu DVD.
 
Does for me and my mate too, it depends if your firewall/router/modem has the right ports open, and for me they do.
