Liquid Cooling newbie

I was having trouble with my CPU temperatures and decided to go with an air cooler like a noctua nh d14 or a thermalright venomous
and i started saving money for the cooler then I realised that I had like $200 and was wondering if I can go for a good custom Water cooling set up

According to Liquid Cooling 101 I would need a pump, radiator and waterblock right a.
So I was thinking If I could go with a liquid cooling kit just a good radiator pump and CPU block for now and I will go with the VGA block and the memory block and chipset block later
so can I get a liquid cooling kit below $150
and also I want best performance and according to what I have gone through in forums that custom kits perform better than the integrated kits and also i would like to know how would it fair against the noctua nh d14 which is one the best air coolers in market.
Please help me and also tell me the best blocks pumps and radiators available in my budget

EDIT:

Also tell me is swiftech the only company which makes pumps and radiators if not tell me other companies also and which is the best one

well swiftech makes great pumps and rads. hw labs is a great rad company which make the epic black ice series!! as for pumps, danger den make some as do ocz, thermalright, and xspc. here is a nice loop for ya

a good budget rad

I would also recommend getting a shroud but if u dont its still a great loop^^

Well thanks I think I will have to search for these products in the Physical store since the frozen Cpu shipping to india is costing me like $112 just for the radiator so.....

I would advise against frozencpu anyway, they're high on a lot of prices. I would look at Sidewinder computers or Jab-tech(more reasonable prices and shipping)

Budget rad(you should be able to fit a 360 up top of that haf) Ek 360
Laing D5 or a D5 with g1/4 threads for use with your own fittings(I'm a bit of a D5 fanboy for their silence, and long lifespan) That Dangerden pump is also only rated for like 25*C operation
Tubing I just go for el cheapo mastercleer because i'm always messing with my setup
Waterblock pick one of the Heatkiller or the Ek blocks(I myself have the HF) I'm not sure about that Aquacomputer, I have heard that it's restrictive, though
Reservoir I like the IandH reservoirs(made by a guy in California), I've also not heard bad things about the XSPC bay reservoirs(yet anyway)
Fittings I would go with Bitspower Fatboy(1/2 in) and some cheap tubing(if you don't mind it clouding up) and worm drive clamps, Or if you have the spare cash Compression fittings
Coolant Distilled water and a "
sikibyia.html
" You can just buy a strip of 99.99% silver and wrap it around a tube of MX-2(what I did)
hope that helps

I prefer the ddc plus a top to the d5, the greater head pressure gives it better flow in real world applications. If you get the res top for it, you get the added performance of an aftermarket top(the res top has the highest measured flow rate) as well as a built in res, removing the need for an added one.

A cheap tubing that won't cloud up is the saint-gobain duralene.

Otherwise, i totally agree on the waterblock and rad.

I dont know much about liquid cooling to commment on your custom loops you built for me .
I dont understand the terms like fittings and barbs etc anyways I will check the local stores if they have any of the components from the above loops that you mentioned and will checkout the price here and if within my budget i would go with them rather than the noctua nh d14

and do you know how would the coolit vantage fair against the above loop you created for me and would the above loop make a significant temp difference compared to the noctua nh d14

The noctua more than likely will cool better than a self contained unit from coolit.

I highly recommend what I did and get a pump/reservoir combo. It makes bleeding air soooo much easier, not to mention having a reservoir is always a good idea.

Pump-
https://www.jab-tech.com/Laing-DDC-3.25-12V-18-Watt-Version-pr-4464.html

Reservoir- (top of the pump comes off and the reservoir sits on top of the pump)

https://www.jab-tech.com/XSPC-Acrylic-Reservoir-for-Laing-DDC-pr-4123.html

As for the rad, just pick the largest you can fit. For my project I'm only putting the CPU in the loop so I used a single 120mm unit (but a thicker version). If you are putting the GPU in the loop also, you definitely should put at minimum a 240 if not a 360mm unit.

Same thing i recommend to anyone building a loop, the res top also has the highest flow rate of any aftermarket top for the ddc's(around double the stock flow rate);)

Although...the 3.25 isnt really worth it over the 3.2 IMO.

If thats your setup there, i'd suggest staying away from Hydrx....just use a nice killcoil or silver and distilled water.

ok i will confirm the rates of all the above parts and see which ones are available and cheap and then post the final loop with it price then you guys help me decide which one should i go for and can some one please tell me whats all this DDC and barbs and D5s everyone is talking about i dont get that

DDC and D5 are pumps. Bomber and I are recommending the DDC with a reservoir top (like I posted links and a pic of my own stuff too) instead of the D5 pump with an external reservoir.

Whats wrong with HydrX? I actually have the MCP355, it is $14 cheap on jab-tech-

https://www.jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCP-355-12v-DC-Pump-pr-3510.html

@Just a Noob- It's not all aluminum, it's 1/2 copper underneath with an aluminum shell. It's a socket 478 water block, not many to choose from there.
ANY aluminum in a loop with copper and brass can cause galvanic corrosion.

Hydrx i would only use in a mixed metal loop as it has corrosion inhibitors..otherwise it just decreases specific heat of the distilled water and hurting temperatures. I've also seen it gunk up waterblocks. Although i wouldnt recommend Hydrx or mixed metal loops.

Yeah, the MCP355 is a ddc 3.2;)

Also, if your looking for a copper 478 block, cheap copper/plexi one:
http://www.svc.com/03-l-7551.html

Also, i highly suggest worm drive clamps over those plastic ones...i just throw my plastic ones out when i get them with something like a waterblock.

DDC= MCP355 pump.
D5= MCP655 pump.
Barbs= The fittings that you attach your tubing to.

I am running a mixed metal loop, so the HydrX is OK for me? I'm not gonna buy a different block now that I already have this one. I paid $20 shipped for it.

I would think if it was gunking up a block, that they didn't dilute it enough? On the bottle it says .5l per bottle, but I read somewhere to make it 1l per bottle so thats what I'm gonna do I think. Maybe split the difference I dunno yet.

Ahhh, didn't realize that.

Ahhh, didn't realize that.

HydrX has dyes and other such things that can break down with temperature(just search google for pictures of waterblocks getting dye gunked into them, it happens not only with HydrX but dye bombs, feser cooling fluids, premixes like pc ice, etc). It will take time but it will eventually cause gunking of blocks...and remember, its only a corrosion inhibitor, it does not fully prevent galvanic corrosion(especially on that cpu block i'd watch, because you have aluminum and copper in direct contact). Using HydrX is not ideal, but the only time i would suggest running it is in a case such as yours with mixed metals.

Thanks for all the help guys
Since aluminium is higher in electropostivit chart than copper so that will cause galvanic corrosion so should I go with aluminium or copper and tell me a bit more about coolants

Copper water blocks are the standard. Don't bother with any other coolant than distilled water and silver in it as a biocide
