New to water cooling huh?

A good cpu loop will be around 250$ OR 150 POUND HERE in the uk

You should stay away from any kits, and it probably wont half your cpu temps, unless you were running the stock cooler with no thermal paste or something silly like that.

Temperature wise, water cooling is not a huge amount better than high end air cooling in terms of price to performance. For most people its for silence and the 'cool' factor along with lower temperatures.

A good cpu only loop would be

D tek fusion V2 or EK supreme block
Swiftech of thermochill radiator preferably 2 or 3 fan size
D5 or DDC 3.2 pump
MCRRes or EK res
7/16' TUBING ON 1/2" barbs works well
Distilled water with some PT nuke
 
My everyday School/work PC uses water, and my E2200 could only reach 3.2Ghz on Air, but I'm at a very stable 3.7Ghz using water, with Idle temps in the low twenties, and loaded temps at about 34-36*C.

However, watercooling is an investment. It will seem expensive to start with but you have to remember you shouldn't need to upgrade the pump, radiator or reservior for years, and the CPU block only if a new socket comes out. :D
 
I'm using an EK Supreme with a Plexi-top. If you do go for one, buy a 775 backplate aswell, so you don't bow your motherboard.

You could go for a D-TeK FuZioN V2 aswell, a brilliant block.
 
ok, im going to start piecing a water cooling set up together, other than reading some 101's and how to's i know absolutely nothing about putting one together so input is appreciated

i'll be cooling just my CPU right now, whenever the 9800gx2 blocks come down off 200 dollars ill get one of those, but i figure that isnt in the near future

i was thinking of going with two 80mm copper radiators (is that enough?)

can i use just one reservoir? (i was thinking the more water the cooler the system right? so two may be called for) is the thermal take aquabay enough to keep a system cool?

when im looking at a pump what do i want to look at? i read you barely want it to flow, you dont want too fast or too slow, so how do you tell if a pumps going to go too fast or too slow? if you buy one too fast can you slow it down some how?

i want to use the smallest tubing i can, with that said, (3/8's is the smallest isnt it?)

if im using 3/8's (if that is a choosable tubing) what size barbs do i need to look for on all my equipment to make sure its all compatible?

This is good

You can swap the tubing out for 3/8 and 3/8" barbs
 
i have the nzxt apollo, but i took the bottom hard drive bay out, and my entire bottom is open, and i only have one DVD rom, so i have tons of room in the top and the bottom, i WOULD like to keep out of the left side of the case though so in the future i could put another 9800gx2 in there when they get cheap (in a time far far away :)
 
Yeh thats what i have done, youd have to use some elbows at the radiator barbs tho :\
