Little experiment

Hello

Yesterday i've made a little experiment. I wanted to make processor run at 100%. I've turned on NFS: Most Wanted - maximized all the graphic settings - and as i thought - processor in about 15min started working at 100% and computer started choking. So i quit the game - aaaaand? Processor was STILL running at 100%. I've waited for about 5 min - but no change. It was still running at 100% and choking. I've tried restart, etc. - no effect. Only switching PSU off and then on helped. My question is:

How can i get my processor stabile after running like that? Is this a cache fault? ( 1024 KB ), RAM? (256 RAM), or something else?

You better hope you didn't cook it like what happened when a cpu cooling fan quit here a year ago. That one saw 85C finally after running for some time at 74C until the system acted up and then.. ut oh!
 
No, no - processor's at MAX 46C degree. It just can't go back to stabile work for a while after running at 100% for a longer time.
 
It sounds like something is still keeping it busy like a background service. Or the system idle process isn't doing what that should in keeping the cpu occupied when nothing else is running. The other thought would have to do with the board or bios even where more power is being supplied.
 
Yes - i've opened the Task Manager and i saw... Nothing - 99% were at the task whish says how many processor is free (i'm from Poland - i don't know what is the name of that task in English). But in the diagram - it shows - one time - 100% and another less.
 
When you have no large program or several running and the system is sitting idle the only thing that should be a high percentage is the system idle process. If you are looking at this in the task manager it should be there normally. When opening the task manager look in the performance tab instead of the processes to see what the indicator is showing for cpu activity.
 
Idle Process - 99% - 100%. And i know it's o.k. But - when i go to the graph - it shows - once full usage of a CPU and then for example - about 45%... And computer is choking
 
hey pc-eye. i'm just brainstorming, but could the proc have had a partial failure? like half of it is now burned out, but the rest doesnt know it?
 
nope - everything's o.k :)

I've solved it - i've bought more RAM and better PSU - and everything's o.k :)
