I might be able to upgrade some stuff on newegg with the helps of my dad :P my motherboard says this for processor upgrade

Athlon 64 X2 with Dual Core technology up to 4800+ (up to 65 watt TDP)

at most i'm going to have around $260 which will include the GPU PSU and case

means the board cant take a chip that will pull more than 65W, my nforce 570 could not handle chips exceeding 95W as far as power regulators go, so i ended up sticking with a 5000+ for quite a while, which was more than enough for me at that moment, then i got greedy

i would say no, probably due to bios limitations as the chipset may or may not recognize the cpu you drop in, id just drop in a 4800+ and see how it goes, what chip does it have now?
 
well i decided that i want to go Case/GPU/PSU then for christmas CPU/Motherboard/RAM should make it easier
