Hey. im new to this forum, so hey to all, I wanted to ask.

My friend installed a copy of Windows 2000 on my PC for me.. but it was in Portaguesse, And the whole PC is in that, except a few things. i formatted and installed an English version of Windows XP Home, but the Portaguesee is still there, does anybody know how to change it ALL back to english, if you need a screenshot just ask.

Thanks :)

How do i do that? sorry, not very good with PCs, Its a Packardbell IMEDIA 1414, I dont have any master CDs for it or anything,m but i was told their was a way, but its kinda hard when i can't read it on english lol

when you install the operaing system there are various options, one of them is to format the partition that you want to install on

that would mean that you are using a portuguese disk... what about the disks that came with your system.... any image restore disks?

is you windows xp disk english? im guessing its picking up the old settings which includes the language settings. your mate seems to know his way around in portuguese, get him to format your system clean and install windows xp

Me and him dont talk anymore, this was a 2 week ago, just came back from Greece, Yeah the XP Home Disc i got is English, Do you want a Screen shot?

try to reinstall with xp and look out for an option which allows you to delete a partition.
delete you existing partition, create a new one and then do a full format in ntfs.

I did do that, and it was a new one, 190437 summit, and it still there, maybe i have to reset all the system settings, but i dunno what to do, if youd like a ss id be more than welcome to send you one

i dont think a screenshot would really help me to be honest. try to reinstall windows xp again and make sure you pay attention to all the language and keyboard options.
an english version of windows xp would only install in another language if it was still picking up the portuguese language settings, im not entirely convinced it was formatted to be honest.

Well, i inserted the disc, then seletecd the partion then clicked "D" then "L" i think it is, then installed it, but i did it on NTFS (QUICK) i think, i have a XP Pro disc which i KNOW is English, so if i format with that, it should be english again?

install xp pro as you know for sure that it is english. also, there's no difference between that and home edition apart from some extra services and options.
