Hi, I want to build a gaming pc and I would love some suggestions in reward to the Motherboard, Video card and Processor.
First of all, I want a gaming processor (AMD obviously). I was going through the Building Computers 101 and figured an AMD Athlon64 X2 is quite good for gaming. Nevertheless I saw that a Athlon64/FX processor is pretty good also.
Figured that the Athlon64 X2 is more for multimedia stuff (multitasking since its dual core), but for a higher end gaming processor the Athlon64 FX is better.
*Correct me if I'm wrong.
I want a 64bit capable rig. Those processors fall under that category?
Also I want a motherboard that can support 2 video cards. I have in mind one MOBO the Striker Extreme. One of it's features is the NVIDIA nForce® 680i SLI™ and NVIDIA SLI™ Technology, surely this means its Sli capable. Forgive my lack of knowledge on Video Cards, but is NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI a video card? or just a feature?
If it is in case a feature, which video cards would you recommend for Sli. (Obviously supported by the Athlon64 series and the motherboard)
Lastly what should the PSU be? surely it will have to be higher than 18amps on a 12v line, right?
To summarize it all up:
1) Athlon64 X2 or Athlon64/FX or better? (For GAMING)
2) Video cards for Sli. (Not TOO expensive, mid-range)
3) MOBO that supports both #1 and #2 (Suggestions of any other MOBO are appreciated)
4) PSU
*ANY Suggestions as to what would be better than what I have in mind, please notify. As long as it's intended for a gaming rig.
Thank you for your time, in advance.
