Hey guys and girls, im new ere and hoping someone can help me. I have a Compaq LTE 5300 laptop, old, yes i know. When trying to install Xandros on this machine, it will not boot from the cd, im thinking the cd rom either isnt working properly, or it dosent read CD-Rs, my question is, if i get an external pcmcia drive, will the machine know to boot from it?
Thanks in advance, Jon
Some Specs on the machine-
-compaq lte 5300
-133mhz pentium
-64mb ram
-1.55gb Hdd
-No USB ports, only pc slot and serial connections

When the cptr boots up, look for the writing that scrolls by; it should say something like "press del to enter setup". Press the indicated key to enter the bios. You want to change the boot order, so that the cptr looks on the C: drive for booting. It is probably set to boot only from the harddrive. Change the order so that it looks first on a: then d: then c:.
You can change the settings via the page up/down keys or the spacebar, it depends on your bios. There should be brief instructions on screen to help you select.

You do know that Xandros will be as slow as molasses on that? ;)
