Lets just say i have some ideas planned....

I want to know....would these perform alot better than my current cpu,mobo and ram in siggy.

Could i overclock to 4ghz with an aftermarket cooler? with that cpu?

Id be keeping the rest,the 4890,same hard drive,same psu etc.

Or i could upgrade to I5...but its around £25-30 more.

You'd have to look at what other people have achieved with that CPU, and how it performs against a Q6600 at stock.

for £300 the small gain you'd see I recon would be minimal, You'd be better off spending something like £300 on a Q9650 and OCing that to 4GHz+

EDIT: I have no Idea about the i5, I recon it'll be matched 3GHz > 4GHz on a Q9650 but thats just a guess. I haven't bothered to see any benchmarks on it.

hmm yeah....i do like my q6600,it still does realy go through everything i throw at it easily...im just bored though :D

They can overclock to 4ghz :)

That wouldnt happen on the q6600...well not on my setup anyway.

I know that...but i feel thats it from my q6600,i cant realy do anything else with it,i think my mobo + ram wouldnt be able to handle it at higher speeds.

Wish they didnt kill off skt lga 775 so quick :cool:

I bet intel will keep on doing socket switches now just to pee everyone off!
