i have this "network cable unplugged" problem too. i notice i have two LANs, could that be an issue too?

before u mess with the contacts, how old is the laptop? is it still under warrenty? who built it?

Guys... Come on... Your computer is setp to use one of the connections at a time.. wireless or the ethernet card... If your using one, the other is going to be disconnected, or there would be an ip conflict. If you dont want to see that network x on ethernet net just right click on it under my network places (properties) and click disable... Easy as PIE!
