locked out of old hard drive....

I have a new pc. My old hard drive was password protected and the system it was on died. I removed the old hard drive and would like to access the files on it from my new pc but it will not allow me to access it since it was passowrd protected on the old system. What is the best way to gain access to the files.

I think someone mentioned that if you create a user account on your current system, which matches the account of the old on... It will allow you to get the files.

wow.. i just saw this after i made a new post.. I had the exact same problem.
