I have an older DELL computer that i havent used ever since i got this computer. Unfortunatelly my family forgot the password to the administrative account...and there are no guess accounts..

is there anyway we can get in the computer without loosing data/reinstalling windows

the computer is running WINDOWS XP PRO and its set to the classic login screen

Boot to safe mode. When you get to the login screen you should see an account called administrator, this usually doesnt have a password.

it doesnt go into safe mode.. or maybe im doing it wrong

well u need to go to the BIOS
do this by holding down delete during startup before the Windows start bar starts

Yep, hit F8 while it is booting (just keep hitting it), you don't need to be in the BIOS at all.

oh, on my dell its delete to get into the BIOS, i did't know about f8.

when you hit f8 while the comp's booting up it lets you chose safe mode without going into the bios

well wen i hit either 1 it goes into the grey screen with all these comp configs,, so i duno what to do next?

any1 know???
