Ok I got this computer from one of my friends friends. It boots up and goes to a password and username thing. The guy i got it from doesnt know the pass to it. is there any way to bypass that so i can change it so i dont need a password? the system operation is wondows 2000 proffesional. if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

When the computer is booting up, hold down F8, (i think thats what it is) and an option screen should come up. Select "Run in safe mode" and when you get to the desktop, set up a user account for yourself by going into the control panel and click on User Accounts. (this is how it works on XP, i have no experience with 2000)

It's against the forum rules to discuss bypassing Windows passwords on this forum, whether your intentions are honourable or not, it makes no difference I'm afraid.

You say your friend's friend doesn't know the password to his own PC? I doubt that. Either way, I suggest you you reinstall Windows from the original disk. If you don't have the original disk, they're not expensive to buy OEM these days. Far better than having someone else's account cluttering up your operating system.

Ok, Sorry I didnt know. He had this computer awhile back, he forgot the pass. But anyways where can i get oem boot discs?

You can buy pretty much any operating system at http://www.newegg.com it depends on what you want to run on your computer. Im also fairly sure you can pick up a retail version at wal mart or any place like that
