Logitech MX5000 question....

I got a logitech mx5000 desktop (included bluetooth adapter, mx5000 keyboard and mx1000 mouse)...
When i put the bluetooth adapter in the back of the computer the mouse lags - sometimes up to 5 seconds behind! it works fine when its plugged in the front, but i want it in the back to free up the usb port at the front (and so i dont accidentally kick it and break it one day - its on the floor...)
does anyone know why this is happening? im pretty sure its not the range because its supposed to be about 10 metres... and the computer is right next to my desk...

This is a drawback with wireless hardware. Often you still have to maintain a line of sight type of distance and still see problems like this. Logitech is a top name brand too. But you may have to look around to see if you have anything metal or simply dense that could interfere with the signal. Maybe moving the receiver around a little will reveal a favored spot where this will be corrected. Try different positions and angles to see if that helps any. Make sure your batteries are good too.
 
I have a MX5000 Set-up as well, when I first installed it I had the exact same problem as you. What I did was....unistalled the software, and then plugged in the adapter just using windows software. The downside is that you cannot pair any other bluetooth device with your computer. The other fix I found was to install the software that came with the set-up (setpoint) but make sure the usb adapter is close. I ended up purchasing a usb 2.0 hub and now i sits with the adapter in it 2 feet from my keyboard and mouse.
 
In other words you got it away from the interference seen when being right next to the case itself. That prevents signal loss from any interference there by harmonics from magnetic drives and in general the electromagnetic fields that are common around the case itself. P11 has apparently found a working method and should be looked at. With a hub that doesn't have too long a cable might be the ideal way of finding that favored spot.

yeh i tried without the software aswell, but i want to use the bluetooth to connect with my phone...
So a usb hub looks like a good idea, i might go get one of them to sit on my desk...

Let us know how it goes with one. Look around first to get a good brand though. Some of those $3- cheapies are not even worth the time. A disabled friend uses wireless mice and keyboards alike where you still want to keep a corded junker even around for servicing without Windows loaded. Even some programmable corded models can be a nuisance when needing the F8 key when going to reinstall or repair Windows at the recovery console or for even changing a bios setting.
