Logitech Software For Mac?

I have a Logitech MX518 and the drivers are not supported on OS X. That means that i cant really set up the mouse to work as I like as far as DPI and the buttons are concerned.

What software can I use to get this working?
I have tried Steermouse and USB Overdrive.
Steermouse worked alright, but they are both shareware.
Is there anything free for OS X 10.5.2 that would allow me to do this?

Theres a Logitech Control Centre for Mac but that doesnt work with this mouse.

So does anyone know of any free software that would allow me to set up this mouse properly?

Also, while I'm at it, does anyone know what the average battery life is for one of the 17" macbook pro's?

Thankyou :)

what exactly are you trying to do with the mouse? Set it up properly for what? You want to assign the multiple buttons specific functions?

Yes, thats the main thing. I want to be able to set all the buttons to to certain tasks. Such as the side buttons to copy and paste and so on.

Where would I do that?
In the mouse section I can change the tracking speed and so on.
But I have no idea where i'd look to assign anything.

i think they withdrew the logitech software because it kept installing something that bricked the OS when you upgraded to a newer release

Under keyboard and mouse, there is a keyboard tab, a mouse tab where i can change the tracking speed, double click speed and scrolling speed. and there is a keyboard shortcut tab. I cant see anything that would allow me to assign them.
