i already have everything else (replacing my tower in sig). will be running my OS on my Raptors. here is what im going to be ordering within the next week as soon as a few of my auctions end on ebay! :)

Boomer - all that for $1,100??? that isn't good! You can do better! Or are you saying $1,100 is your budget????

Answer these questions:
  1. Main Use of PC???
  2. Budget??
  3. Do you just need the box?

I just bought basicly the same set up except the following;

G SKILL PC 8500 instead of the PC 8000 for 109.99
E8500 @ 189.00 combo price with mobo at newegg, but the E8400 is just as good and at a better price
Asus 4870 GPU to match the Mobo instead of Vision tec same price
Asus P5Q-E instead of the P5Q I was told there is a noticeable differnce in performance and it's only 30.00 more.
OCZ700 PSU highly recommended by alot of people 114.99-30.00 rebate

I also ended up getting or adding the following;
Sunbean 6 switch fan controller 34.99
Creative labs 70SB104000000 sound card 44.99
Sabrent 65-1 card reader 13.99

So with my bias opinion I think you have a solid build :D :D :D

ya, all that is $1,100 shipped. feel free to configure a setup for me please :)

-main use, everything......gaming, video/ photo editing. whatever i can. i'm on my desktop a lot.
-budget i guess would be no more than $1200 before rebates. but may consider higher if its worth it.
-just need a box. i already have my raptos and a WD 640gb drive, 22inch +19inch monitor, speakers, wireless mouse and keyboard and ill take the DVD burner out of my current setup.

Thanks for the recommendations. i got my build a little cheaper. its about 50 bucks cheaper with the addition of a DVD drive. comes out to $1,018 after the $50 in rebates. and i think i'm going to stick with the G.SKILL RAM...

I say go for that one.
 
the only suggestion i can make is that you should definetely go for oscaryu's build. it has two more very powerful cores, so its very future-proof. i think things would run much faster with his build.

well, i would but that quad core puts me a little over budget. im thinking of going with the 700w PSU tho.

i figure within a year or so i will upgrade to a new video card along with what ever the newest (hopfully 1600fsb) quad core CPU intel has out by then. How does that plan sound?
