Hey guys!

Building a new micro ATX tower for my cousin. He only uses a computer for internet, music, work related activities exc. nothing major. He has a tight budget as well (around 600-650 bucks).

I am at 655 shipped ATM

Finally, where i have a question is at the case.

Looking at the cheap Rosewell R363 micro ATX case with 400w PSU. What do you think of this case/PSU for this simple setup? I see i will need an extra SATA power adapter since it only has 1.

Not that bad. Dont really care for Roadkill. I would pick out another case and power supply. Get a lowerend Cooler Master/ NZXT or Antec case. With power supplies stick with Antec/OCZ/Silverstone/BFG/XClio/Seasonic/Corsair
 
Is it necessary to be m-ATX??

Monitor - Asus 19" LED Blacklight at same price, worth considering

HDD - Save $20 going for Samsung/ Seagate 500GB

Mobo - Is it a must to go for m-ATX? Is ATX OK?
Could consider the old AMD 770 chipset. Get $60 ASRock M3A770DE.
Money saving from HDD and Mobo invest into 4650

Keyboard + Mouse - Is wireless necessary? I personaly tends to use with wire...

Thanks for the input! You're right about getting a better PSU. I am trying to convince him to spend just a little bit more. I think it will go a long way :)

I'm thinking Micro ATX because he has a small desk area.

I also found that WD has a $20 dollar off promo for the Caviar Blue 640gb. So I'll prolly go that route instead.

Just say to him PSU is the heart of PC. If he is unlucky, the whole machine can be demage on a faulty PSU.
That case cost $45. Get a cheap case at $30 and a better PSU


If he really don't have money at the moment, downgrade RAM to 2 x 1GB. Upgrade when he got money. But in this case, you need to make sure your mobo have 4 slot of RAM.

I was actually looking at that case as well. That corsair PSU you posted earlier is nice for sure with the MIR. But i found this CM PSU for 30 shipped as well. So i will be keeping them both in mind. Havent ordered the stuff yet, prolly will get to it tomorrow.
