Looking at new laptops

I'm looking at getting a new laptop and basically want to know if I can get by with integrated memory graffics. I run a couple of mapping programs,watch dvd's and web brosing with some video downloads. No video editing,gaming. I am looking for a PC only. I'm looking at a refurb with XP or one of the few new ones with XP. I am looking to keep to price under $700.

Well against my better judgement I bought a Dell XPS M1710. Paid just under $1600 refurb with 3yr onsite/accidental dammage plan.

Like I said I over bought but I'll probably be happier with it. Might even try that vidcard out on some games.

Wow thats a nice machine, the only thing I hated about having a laptop like that (lower end inspiron e1705) was that the battery life was nonexistent

Good choice. I had an alienware m9750 that also had 1 7950gtx and a 160gb hdd, it cost about the same. We returned it for the m15x though because of bad battery life and physical problems.. Good luck though it looks great!

Well the XPS I bought was 130% over my price range. If I didn't need XP I could have stayed much closer to my price range. I stayed with dell because the inspiron 8200 that I bought in 02 was well built and though way outdated is still in great shape. The hp dv5210 is only 1 1/2 years old but the build quality leaves alot to be desired.I'm a truckdriver and my computer runs darn near 24/7,and yet the dell still works like new.

Nice, Dells, when treated properly, have pretty decent lifespans regardless of what people tell you... From what I have seen, most broken dells are outdated platforms (P3 or equivelent) or user error. Though, I have had some amount of trouble with them, the average user would have never encountered those issues.
