Question & Answer to Compatability according to Crucial.com Computer Scan

Q: What memory goes into my computer, and can I mix speeds?

A: DDRII memory with support for DDR2 PC2-5300,DDR2 PC2-4200 speeds.

Because DDR2 memory is backward-compatible, you can safely upgrade your system with any of the guaranteed-compatible DDR2 speeds listed below.

Q: How much memory can my computer handle?

A: 8192MB.

Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.

Q: Do I have to install matching pairs?

A: Yes.

Your system requires that you install memory in pairs.

Q: Does my computer support dual-channel memory?

A: No.

Your system does not support dual channel.

Q: Does my computer support ECC memory?

A: No.

Your system does not support ECC. Because ECC and non-ECC modules should not be mixed within a system, install the same type of modules that are already in your system.

No these are the Question and Answers provided by Crucial, but i think they contradict them selves. I do not want to buy Crucial ram, i go to buy something and it says Dual Channel. According to the question and answer my PC does not support it.

Should i buy 1 gig , or 512x2? I plan on taking out the old 256x2. Also, what do you guys recommend according to the compatabilities crucial says I should buy. People said Corsair, OCZ, and ETC. Please give me pages and not brand names. I will buy from Crucial and Newegg only. THANKS!

I want 1 or 2 GIG, this is for gaming. Please tell me what i need for the specs i just showed you on my first thread.

I wouldn't trust crucial so much they always make mistakes, can you tell us the model of the computer and brand that would be better or the mother board model would do it too

ya i would try that, if not get get kingston if the price is the same since they have a lifetime warrenty and everything but corsair is fine 2

Crucial says i don't have Dual Channel ;; But on CPU-Z it says on the Memory section

General

Type: DDR2

Channels: # Dual

Edit:

Right now i have 256x2 ;; is that dual channel or a kit. If it is what is the differences?

dual channel is just where memory runs together for increased performance, its just something which is enabled so the RAM modules support dual channel and can run in dual channel, they can be used in a motherboard which doesn't support dual channel though
