...That can play the latest games like Battlefield 2 aswell as being future proof. I'd wish it to be AMD 64 based. So far I have the following but I'm not sure about the graphics card.

CPU: AMD ATHLON 64BIT 4000 (San Diago) 1MB L2 Cache (939 pin)
RAM: 4096 MB DDR400 PC3200
Motherboard: ASUS A8N-E: DUAL DDR, S-ATA, x16 slot, 3 PCI etc
Graphics Card: 256MB RADEON X1300 PCI Express + DVI + TV-OUT
PSU: Silent 400W PSU + 80mm internal Fan

Is that Graphics card good for my needs or would I be better going with a 512MB PCIe card?

Thanks.

the x1300 is trash to say the least, atleast get a 6600GT, preferribly a 6800GS/GT

4 gigs of RAM is too much, stick with 2GB, spend the extra money on the 6800GS/GT

400W isnt alot, unless its got 24A+ on the 12V

mobo looks good

processor i can vouch for, but get a 4200+ X2

whats your budget?

What if I got Two PCI Express 256Mb nVidia GeForce 6600GS SLI?
1. Then i would extend to you my condolences :)
2. SLI is nice yes, but overpriced and overhyped. Games wont be developed for SLIers only since theres no money in that. That and the fact that a few months down the road, a new gen card will outperform the SLI combo (i.e., like what i got)

well, the 7800GTX Ultra whoops the shit out of every PC card out there right?
I can answer that question when you provide me a link to a 7800GTX Ultra. Furthermore, id hardly say "it whoops the shit out of every PC card out there"

Can you quote for me the line where it says 7800GTX Ultra? I did a quick search for the word ultra and only found general stuff. (if im being too subtle, there is no such thing as a 7800GTX Ultra, furthermore, the videocard i picked out will run circles around that)

well, i personally dubbed it the Ultra, as its the "better" GTX to be techinical the 7800GTX 512Mb by BFG... also, link me to a better gaming videocard then that ;)

1. Lets stick to facts rather than personal nicknames (and if you want to use personal nicknames as such, lets have them make sense rather than to actually use actual monikers)
2. If you want to know, its designation is "gf-7800-gtx-a3"
3. To answer your question, i find the X1800XL to be a better card. But of course thats how i define "better" (for the record, do note that i am 22)
4. Lets also avoid confusing GPUs and VCs. If you want to refer to the GD7800GTXA3 then refer to it, dont make the mistake of thinking the overclocked BFG chip is running stock

okay then, true the X1800XT has a few nifty features that the GF-7800-GTX-A3 doesnt, but with raw power and speed, paired with its own nifty features, Overall to me is a better card

Yay points for reading! I said X1800XL

The X1800XT doesn't look too hot with only 38fps
Yay more points for reading

Toms hardware is hardly unbiased. That graph is complete bullshit if you ask me.
Hahahah! Remind me to buy you a beer if you ever visit and are of age haha. Glad to see I'm not the only one who sees THG's stupidiy (ok that was mean, they do a good service to those people who are entirely cluleless but do a disservice to everyone else)

they definatly put the 1800 down too much, the 1800 to me is seconded only by the GF-7800-GTX-A3

Now factor in price + overclockability and you can see why one might consider the X1800XT. Now factor in the even greater price drop to the X1800XL which is what i originally mentioned and you can see why one might consider the X1800XL the the best card all-around ... you can OC the living crap out of it, its cheap (sure more than the 78GT but u cant OC the 78GT nearly as much), toss in Ringbus and stupidly efficient bandwidth management :)
