Looking for a good LCD

That looks like a nice one. If I got one now, I'd probably get that one too...

Currently, I have a ViewSonic VA712b. Specs are pretty similar, but it doesn't have height adjustment or USB ports on it. Otherwise, it's very sharp and fast responce time. About all I don't like about mine is there's a bit of a haze around the edges, but it's only really obvious when there's solid black on the screen.

The highest resolution refers to the highest a monitor will support. Your video card will also dictate the highest it supports. If the card only supports up to 1280x1024 then the monitor you choose also has to be able to support the same. The model you are looking at has an average 8ms response time which is better then many others if you plan on gaming a lot. Another make and model lcd however tops that with the fastest 2ms response time seen lately while looking over 19" models to eventually replace the 17" used here.

SCEPTRE X20G-Naga III Black 20.1" 8ms Widescreen LCD Monitor - Retail

Did you see this one...nice rebate! I paid around the same price your looking at for a real nice 19 inch AMW i believe...but check out the link

That's got a high power consumption there at 80w over the 40w seen with the BenQ model. I usually see about 45-60w max on most models. But then that's a 20" compared to the 19" sought after here to replace a 17".

There are quite a few makes and models to choose with different size screens. The links posted already point that out. You can go from 14"-24" maybe larger in some cases. Your viewing preferences as well as what you are looking for should be the deciding factors in making the final choice.

Thanks for all the replies, I dont think i will get the 19" because of a worse pixel pitch and its not as bright. Cost more too. The vewsonic is not as bright and more expensive. This one looks like a good deal for a very bright and nice contrast ratio 1280 x 1024 19". http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824009075
I will probably get the one I suggested first or this one. Im still trying to decide. Anyone see anything bad about this monitor? Plus, the 19" here looks awesome

I have this LCD monitor

It's one of the greatest things I've ever bought. It didn't have one dead pixel and is a good price for a 19". Also has good response time and contrast ratio. I think Hyundai is part of Samsung also.

That one has the lowest power consumption while the Acer beats it with a faster response time. The Viewsonic at the link here has a 2ms response time with a 38w power consumption and maxes at 1280x1024. http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=BA22084

Seems like a very good monitor, all of the reviewers said they noticed no ghosting except for one, who said ghosting was horrible... Maybe he got a bad monitor? Maybe the game is supposed to be blurred??? Hmm....

That is the exact make and model posted earlier for a lower price then waht was seen at: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=3876308

Let me how that goes since I am looking at that to move up from the 17" BenQ here with 25ms for a response time. ssssssllllllllooooooowwwww....
