Looking for a good PSU

Hey everyone,

Anyone know of a good 500W power supply I can pick up for a good price?

This is what I got

AMD x2 4200+
Gigabyte K8N-SLI
2GB DDR 400
7600GT KO
2 x 80GB WD 7200RPM
Sony 16x DVDRW
Sony 16X DVD ROM
SB Audigy 2

A definition of what you mean by a 'good price' would be nice. In addition, wattage is far from the only factor in choosing a PSU.

Having said that, Jets recommendation is a very, very good one. It would be ideal for your system.
 
I was looking at this powersupply as well. Is a 500 watt power supply a good one to build on, I.E expanding, buying a better graphics card etc etc?

I feel that this is one of the best PSUs available at that pricepoint. It should handle a midrange system without issues, but whether it's appropriate for you will depend on what hardware you intend to use. Does expanding and buying a better graphics card refer to a 7600GT, or an 8800GTX SLI, for example? Full system specs would be nice.

To avoid getting off track here, you would be best to start your own thread.

Keep in mind that it's one of the older Enhance built units, whereas the rest of the Zeus series are server grade Etasis, hence the price difference. eWiz have the Enhance unit that this is based on at $102, but Silverstone offer a 3 year warranty.

It's certainly a powerful unit, despite the low efficiency, although not really necessary for bundars system.
 
The OCZ line is putting out some smokin deals right now too


they have a 600 watt unit for $94.00 after rebate!

and a 700 watt unit after rebate for $119.00 for a high quality unit like those thats a red hot deal!

I would expect to pay atleast $100.00 for a high quality unit much less than that and your in for a hard lesson.
